ARC Review: Pushing the limits by Katie McGarry

Pub Date: July 31st 2012
By: Harlequin Teen
Pages: 384
Source: Publisher via Netgalley
Summary: [Goodreads / Amazon]
So wrong for each other...and yet so right.
No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal.
But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.
Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.
My (Karina's) Review:
I really liked this book. There was a point where the guy got the girl and I was like oh I must be done. Nope not at all. This book was filled with different events yet stayed to the main concept.
I suppose the antagonist would have to be the mom, but at the same time without trying to be the dad and his girlfriend. Echo and Noah are the perfect misunderstood couple. They are two broken pieces that fit so well together. There may or not be some steamy scenes between them. Don’t worry nothing gets to graphic.
Noah is just amazing, but a bit clueless at how he feels about Echo. Echo’s insecurities get a little annoying but considering her dark past I can tolerate it. Although some of her friends and her ex-boyfriend are mentioned in the story they aren’t a very big part. It’s more of an inner conflict within Noah and Echo.
Echo suffers something tragic but it was SO horrendous that her mind blocked it out. Noah on the other hand is a foster child and the system failed him repeatedly he just wants his brother back. That plot in itself is amazing.
Echo is desperately trying to figure herself out and almost looses herself, Noah is her rock. And Echo is Noah’s rock. The romance in this book is amazing and every girls dream. (Minus the tragedy that occurs)
I also liked how the antagonists become protagonists, in both Noah’s and Echo’s lives. I give this book 5/5 feathers/ absolutely amazing!
