My name is Beatrice. When I was born, I was blessed with the Sight. I was immediately removed from my parents and enrolled in the Institution. At the age of twelve, I had my first true vision, earning my raven’s wings. And when I turned seventeen, one of my visions came true. Things haven’t been the same since. The Institution depends on me to keep the City safe from our enemy, the Dreamcatchers, but I’m finding it harder to do while keeping a secret from everyone, including my best friend Gabe. It is a secret that could put us all in danger. A secret that could kill me and everyone close to me. But the enemy has been coming to me in my dreams, and I think I’m falling in love with him. He says they’re coming. He says they’re angry. And I think I’ve already helped them win.
The AWESOME & SHORT Interview:
Resilient. And I’ll leave it at that, since I’m only supposed to use just one word.2)Can you tell me what inspired it you to write LUMINOSITY?
A lot of different things inspired me, but I think the most important one was a student that I taught one year. Her name is Melinda, and she’d always bring in the most interesting books. Every week, it was something new, and they always made me curious. After writing lots of historical fiction, I decided I wanted to create my own world, and write something that Melinda would read one day. So that’s what I did!3)Okay, when you saw the cover to your book, what was your initial reaction?
I thought it was awesome, and I couldn’t believe it was a cover for MY book. It made it just a little more real. I wanted to show everyone, but I had to wait a few months for my cover reveal. It was soooooooooo hard to do.4)If you were stranded on a deserted island what 3 things would you want to bring with you?
My laptop, the internet, and my husband. I can’t live without any of those things.5) Is there a song you could list as the theme song for your book or any of your characters?
This is a hard question. I can tell you a couple of songs I used for when I was writing. When I think of LUMINOSITY, I think of the song “City” by Sara Bareilles. It’s about a girl who lives the city life over and over again and wants to find someone she can hold on to. I also like “All of the Lights” by Kanye West, because in the opening scene of the book, Beatrice is looking out over the City, and describes “a million million lights” shining back at her. So, whenever I hear Kanye’s song, I think of that scene.6) What is one of your most favorite Quotes?
Of all time? Perhaps the one I have tattooed on my arm. It’s by E.B. White, and it reads:
Well as mentioned before in the interview there were 2 SONGS that fit with LUMINOSITY. So the first one was:
