The Grimoire turns its own pages and can answer any question asked of it...and Kara Magari is its next target. Kara has no idea what she's getting herself into when she stumbles across the old book while hiking along a hidden trail. Once she opens it, she's thrown into Ourea: a beautiful world full of terrifying beings that all want the Grimoire's secrets. Everyone in this new world is trying to find her, and most of them want to control the new-found power the Grimoire bestows upon her. Braeden Drakonin grew up in Ourea, and all he’s ever known in life is lying. The Grimoire is his one chance at redemption, and it lands in his lap when Kara Magari comes into his life. He has one question to ask the book—-one question that can fix everything in his broken life—-and he’s not letting Kara out of his sight until he gets an answer. There's no escaping Ourea.
Starting this book out, i thought "oh boy, this is going to be a slow one" because it does start slow, with more description. BUT THEN WOW @_@ things take an interesting and creepy twist! ^_^ Kara is a really tough, witty, and clever girl. I would have fainted and probably been killed if I had been her. Really, it amazed me that she handled everything with calm (though she does panic at times). She was very likable, and had a sarcastic and humorous voice. =D Really makes me want to read her parts. Oh yeah! There are dual POV's which you know I LOVE! This one was great because there are two MC's whose lives intertwine. So getting both there views was nice. I liked Braeden. He seemed like he wanted to be different from what he was meant to be and he also didnt want to be like his father (whom killed his mother X_X) I felt bad for him at times, but he was defiant and i liked that. The WORLD! Oh my gosh! It was creepy and enthralling! It felt like another world completely, filled with magic. There are some really nasty creatures like the isen, whom stole souls!! >_< There are also shape changing dragons @_@ Yeah, the world of Ourea is unique! I really liked the grimoire, it would have freaked me out, a MOVING, MAGICAL book. The Interaction between Kara & Braeden was definitely not boring and there is a TON of action. Though the start may be difficult, if you continue you WILL fall into the book & LOVE it! Overall, it was very enjoyable read, filled with action, danger, and magic! Really look forward to reading the second book very SOON! =D 4/5 STACKS of BOOKS!
