Kiora thought she had never heard a lie until she was sixteen. But she was wrong. Her entire existence was based on nothing but. She thought that evil did not exist. Lie. That magic was not real. Lie. And that the land of Meros was all there was. One more lie. With Aleric telling her that evil is knocking on the door and that she is the only one who can stop them she has a choice to make. Refuse, or start the wildest most painful ride of her life. She reluctantly dips her toe into her new existence of magic and threads, dragons and shapeshifters, and the person who wants to take control of it all: the evil Dralazar. However, this journey was never meant to be hers alone. She will be accompanied by a Protector. To her disbelief, and utter irritation they name the hotheaded, stubborn, non -magical, (albeit gorgeous) Prince Emane. They will have to trust each other with their lives, but right now Kiora would settle for a non hostile conversation. And now it comes down to this, If you had never heard a lie, would you know when you heard one? Is knowing good from evil innate? Kiora finds herself having to decide who lives and who dies on those very questions.
First off I'm going to try a different approach to this review. I'm going to list the 3 reason's why I loved this book and why you SHOULD read it! (Here's to me not failing) Reason #1:
The World!! Starting this book you are immersed into the world of Meros. Where a war betwen good and evil has been warring for A LONG TIME. What makes this world so unique and interesting is that there are some mythical creatures that aren't normally in YA worlds like in this one. There are beings with magic like GUADIANS, DRAGONS, PEGUSUS and other mythical creatures. Which made the world in this book facinating! I mean it's not everyday you read about funny telepathic pegus's, right?! Then getting us aquainted with Arian's prophecy and all the aspects to it, so i wasn't that confused by all that was going on. So the world building was great, diferent, and unique :)Reason #2:
Which brings me to reason #2 the CHARACTRS! I loved all the characters, even the evil ones. Kiora at first seemed weak and naive but as the book went along we grew stronger, and I learned to like her. PLUS her personality shown bright, she was witty, funny, smart, and vey open about her emotions. Emane...AH, another guy that seemed like a jerk at th start BUT who managd to change my mind! He turned out to have emotions, be srong, open, and funny! He really brought life to the book! Aleric, Eleana, and Arturo were all interesting and charming characters. The character's in this book were really likeable and I even loved to hate Dralazar, because he brought that much more inrigue into the book. PLUS the book was in multiple POV'S, which I really loved geting into different character's heads.Reason #3:
One of the last things that made me love this book was THE ROMANCE & THE ACTION! The romance in this book wasn't forced or super perfect & sweet. It was tough, challenging, and risky but in my opinion totally worth it :) I really liked the interaction between Emane & Kiora they argued, they kissed, and they worked well as a team! They were sweet in the dangerous kind of way. Now the action, there was A LOT of it! Not at the start but as the book progressed it betcame more intense and more fast paced, which was great for this type of story!Overall, this was a great, enjoyable, and fast read (even close to 500 pages) . I LOVED the story and the characters. I am EFINITELY reading the next one!! 4/5 CRAZY STARS!
AWESOME! It blew my mind away at at times and amazed me! :D
About Book #2 : Wings of Tavea!
Kiora is rapidly learning that evil and lies come in shades of black and white and swirling greys, but nothing could have prepared her for the shock of leaving Meros. Kiora and her protector Emane step through the pass into a world they never knew existed but were always meant to save, only to find it far worse than they could have ever imagined. Good has been forced into hiding for its own survival, while the rest of the land bows to the Shadow, a force that pushes any remaining thoughts of Dralazar from Kiora’s mind. This land is full of new creatures, each more dangerous than the last. Her visions have taken on a deadly twist, and magic, or what comes of it, was never so real. And then there is Alcander: a Tavean, their guide, and an entirely different kind of trouble.(
