Reading Road Trip: Connecticut + a Giveaway [INT]

Hey everyone ^_^ So yeah another giveaway, YAY! Today's my stop on the 2013 reading road trip. Last year i represented Texas and this year I got the classy Connecticut! This EPIC road trip is hosted by Britta @ I like These Books and the ever awesome Hafsa @ Icey Books.
Now you're wondering why I would pick CT, right? Well, one BIG reason is because i like like RIGHT on the border. I cross over and BAM i'm in greenwich, CT. Also because my mom worked in CT for 12 years @_@ and it's where my grandmother went to get treated.
But besides the personal stuff CT has some great authors and amazing books set in it :D
FUN FACTS ABOUT CT: U MUST READ IT, THERE REALLY COOL!
  • The first telephone book ever issued contained only fifty names. The New Haven District Telephone Company published it in New Haven in February 1878.
  • Connecticut and Rhode Island never ratified the 18th Amendment (Prohibition) *rebellious*
  • Cattle branding in the United States began in Connecticut when farmers were required by law to mark all of their pigs.
  • Connecticut is home to the first hamburger (1895), Polaroid camera (1934), helicopter (1939), and color television (1948).
  • The first lollipop-making machine opened for business in New Haven in 1908. George Smith named the treat after a popular racehorse.
  • The World Wrestling Federation or the WWF is headquartered in Stamford *MY UNCLE WORKS THERE*
  • In colonial New Haven cut pumpkins were used as guides for haircuts to ensure a round uniform style. Because of this fashion, these New Englanders were nicknamed "pumpkin-heads."
  • PEZ® Candy is made in the city of Orange.
  • DID YOU READ IT? O_o YES, THEN U ARE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TO THY GIVEAWAY
*bows & opens door, where unicorns pop out, we start dancing and do a gig*
NOW TO THE GIVEAWAY & WHAT YOU CAN WIN!
Now these books don't take place in CT *to my knowledge* BUT they're all written by authors who live or were born in CT. I wanted to take a different route and decided to pick AUTHORS. So yeah if you want to know more about them, just click the pictures *it takes you to the magical world of goodreads* XP

    9. Oh! The lollipop-making machine. That's so cool and that it's named after a popular race horse of the time? Even cooler! Or maybe that the 18th amendment was never ratified there? US History failed on letting me in on that little fact! I'm from California and My Life Next Door has been on my TBR for such a long time and it looks really cute.
