A high-stakes online game of dares turns deadly
When Vee is picked to be a player in NERVE, an anonymous game of dares broadcast live online, she discovers that the game knows her. They tempt her with prizes taken from her ThisIsMe page and team her up with the perfect boy, sizzling-hot Ian.
At first it’s exhilarating—Vee and Ian’s fans cheer them on to riskier dares with higher stakes. But the game takes a twisted turn when they’re directed to a secret location with five other players for the Grand Prize round.
Suddenly they’re playing all or nothing, with their lives on the line. Just how far will Vee go before she loses NERVE?
Debut author Jeanne Ryan delivers an un-putdownable suspense thriller.
My Thought's (Lisseth):
Okay when I signed up I was expecting a good read. I mean that summary really gets you pumped. So I read this as fast as I could since I had to pass the ARC along. Which added to the adrenaline. Let me just say, THIS BOOK IS AMAZING! I have not read anything like this in a while!
So the story centers around teenagers who do dares and win prizes.I really loved this concept. It was unique and thrilling. The fact that the NERVE people know SO much about you, just makes you aware of how much private info we put online & made me scared a bit. I was like, "OMG! what if someone knew that much about me & I didn't know them". We use facebook & tweet about ourselfs all the time. *Chills*
Okay back to the story. It starts in action with a girl running away from someone a watcher, who are sick people who watch you in your dares. It really sets the mood for the book. Then we're plunged into Vee's life.
I loved Vee. She reminds me of me. I am a behind the stage kinda person too, but with the right motivation she (and me) would do anything, even crazy dares! Tommy is her wing men & he also does something that I was shocked to discover in the end.
Her BF Sydney is a likable character, thought at times I wanted to choke her for her determination, especially in the final dares. Ian. OH Ian! He was hot, caring, and all around the guy of any girls dreams. But he pushes Vee to confront things she might have not done, as she say's he was her rock.
The dares. They start out small but then one by one they turn more intense & more is at stake. I wouldn't go past the second dare but WOW, some are really hard to do. I was bouncing in my chair reading. I was like, "OMG!" a lot in this book. I wish I could tell you some but that would kill all the fun of READING THE BOOK! So just READ IT! The Final Dare's are scary, scarring, and dangerous. I was like, "what kind of sick person comes up with this stuff", but I was thoroughly captivated.
The Ending! It was SHOCKING & PERFECT! I was not expecting it AT ALL! I was more certain there would be some deaths but...ah can't tell you! The epilogue ending left me speechless. I was like, "NO.NO!OMG! NO!".
Overall, Yes, this book was AMAZING!!!! Hopefully there is a sequel because the ending leaves me wanting more! There is a bunch more that I loved that i can not tell you. But believe me READ IT! This book gets my very EPIC rating of 5/5 GOLDEN FEATHERS!!! You HAVE TO READ IT. OR ELSE!! You have to have some NERVES to read it!
Favorite Quote:
He laugh's. "You've faced an angry mob of virgins, pretended to be a hooker, escaped from a policeman, and pissed off your best friend. Now you're worried about violating curfew?"
"My mom is scarrier than any of those guys."
