Summary from Goodreads (here):
Her whole life, it had just been the two of them. Before her mother’s last breath, she gave Camille the information she had craved her entire life: the identity of her father. Daring to contact him, Camille was welcomed by an entire family she never knew existed. But nothing comes without a price, as she discovers when her family claims a legendary heritage tracing back to a centaur touched by Zeus.
As she learns the secrets of her Centaur bloodline, she is drawn into a forbidden love with Drake. Her life may be the blood debt required to pay for her mother’s transgressions. The same person who once held her mother captive, and forced her into decades of hiding, now controls Camille. Her only chance is to seek a piece of her mother’s past that will win her freedom and the life she desperately wants.
Interesting. That's what I would say about this book. I really didn't know what to expect but it had an intriguing synopsis. I mean it's about CENTAURS, which I haven't really read many books about before and i really was taking a chance on this one. In the end It was pretty okay.
Don't get me wrong I really liked the story and the romance but there were just a few things that made me a bit weary. I really liked Camille, she was strong and always very perceptive of the things going on around her. At first she was feeling her mothers death and the knowledge of having a father pretty well. Then she gets the courage to call him and BAM! She's on a plane trip to his home and thrust into his family and learning things about her mother's past. I think she handled everything well but things happened a bit TOO fast.
I think the story although paranormal felt just a bit UNREAL. Yes it's fictional but there were some aspects that didn't feel right to me OR Camille. One thing i did like were the characters! Her father was great as a father he wants to protect her and father her but I think it's too late. I LOVED her brothers, she has 5 of them! They're all so unique and protective yet not too overbearing. One other thing that was great was that there was this dual POV and we could see the darkness her mother tried to escape.
OVERALL: Great characters with an interesting story but just didn't quite deliver a believable paranormal world. Props to the author for going with the centaur mythology. I really liked some aspects but others weren't as great. Give it a try though :)

  1. Centaurs are definitely something that I could stand to read, and while hearing that this book has exceptional characters, it doesn't seem like the best story to start a love of centaurs with. I know you have to let your imagination go to far reached places with paranormal, but it still has to be something that makes sense, even though it is fictional. I think I may have to skip this one. Thank you for your review!

  2. This is so much more than a love story. It has questions that need to be answered in so many different ways that it completely keeps you interested. Can't wait to read the next book.
